A b o u t t h e D i r e c t o r
Born and raised in Miami, FL, Eric Firestone is a product of Miami Dade County Public Schools, having attended Coral Reef Senior High for the Choral strand of the Visual and Performing Arts Academy.
He then went on to attend the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music with a major in Music Education and a minor in Music Theory and Composition. His extensive vocal career has granted him the opportunities to share the stage with many other great musicians, including, but not limited to Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe, Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Habermann, Karen Kennedy, Moses Hogan and Andrea Bocelli. Additionally, he has become a sought after adjuticator and Honor Choir clinician in various portions of the state. His "Choir on Fire" at South Miami Middle have won the Merrick Festival Caroling Competition for over fifteen years, as well as other competitions around the country, including Orlando, Georgia and Tennessee. They have received numerous superior ratings for their soloists and choirs.
Growing up, he spent his summers in Norway, which allowed him to attain a fluid understanding of foreign languages at a young age. Currently, he speaks five languages, English, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian and French.

A b o u t t h e P r o g r a m
The choral program of South Miami Middle School has a rich history of vocal success, earning Superior and Excellent ratings at all competitions. The choir has consistently won the Caroling Competition for over fifteen years, receiving near perfect, if not perfect scores. Additionally, through the techniques learned in classes, students have successfully performed in the Florida Vocal Association All-State and Solos and Ensemble events, and in the Federation of Music Clubs where they have historically earned numerous superior ratings at the District and State levels. The musicians that have graduated from this choral program have gone on to the best high school magnet programs in the district.
Most recently they performed with Seraphic Fire on their educational outreach concert, and are excited to collaborate with Magic City Opera.
